JEET KUNE DO (JKD)
Jeet Kune Do is the philosophy we live by here at Full Circle Mixed Martial Arts. It was the brain child of the late great Bruce Lee. JKD was Mixed Martial Arts before the UFC and the modern era. The idea is you study everything you can and use what works for you. JKD is not a style by itself, it is made up of what you put into it.
FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS
The martial arts of the Phillipines are some of the best in the world in dealing with weapons. They also teach a great deal of hand-eye coordination, timing and hand speed. In these classes we focus on the escrima stick and knife, but will also incorporate nunchucks, swords, staff and more.
If Jeet Kune Do is a wheel, then in our academy, Boxing is the axle. The other styles come off of that central core like spokes, but Boxing is the basis of what we do. We incorporate the footwork, punching and evasion of boxing and the ability to endure and overcome adversity as the
foundation of our fighting system.
Thai Boxing is an amazing art for use of all of the weapons of the body: hands, feet, elbows, knees, and head. We incorporate the power and beauty of this style to toughen the body and give us an effective clinch range
When Bruce Lee started Jeet Kune Do, the three primary arts he studied were boxing, wing chun kung fu and fencing. This amazing sport teaches footwork and timing and also has many applications that can translate very well into our open hand martial arts.

Grappling and wrestling range is a very important aspect to fighting. Many fights end up on the ground so you need to know how to function when you get there. We use movements and concepts from Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Dumog, Silat, Sambo and more to develop our grappling skills and ability to fight on the ground. We also want to be able to seamlessly transition from stand-up to the ground and back again.
